Why would the government black out details for Roswell incidents?

why would the government erease/ black out parts of the original documents and then give them to officials.. if aliens arent real "according to them" wouldent it be OK to give them the full document..

They are given these black markers and like coloring - ever wonder what it would look like if they had red and green and blue and yellow and purple........  They just lie alot - old practices die hard and they like knowing something that others do not.  They are jerks.

Actually if aliens were real there would be no reason to cover it up since so many people already believe in them.  The most likely reason for the blacking out in the documents is to cover up what really crashed there and to conceal the names of the people involved in the recovery.  If I were on the team that recovered a top secret spy balloon I know I wouldn't want that information to get out and have to get bombarded with a bunch of questions that I'm not even supposed to answer.

Because they decided to black out the files after writing them, and the reason was that the cold war was in full swing and America did not need a panic over extra-terrestrials.

Its called Government Censorship. They tell you what they want to and make up the rest. The general theory as to why Uncle Sam isn't talking about the UFO they found is many sided. 1)The truth would send the general public into a panic or folks would try to delve deeper and find things the government doesn't want you to know (IE, "black projects", 2) They want to use what they found for military applications deemed TOP SECRET, 3)They want to duplicate the technology for future space exploration and military applications. There are many other reasons but they are vague.

why does the government do any thing? every one knows roswell exists & it is a "secret testing ground for the military so secrets have to be kept!
