Question:

Why would the inside of my ear feel sore and the back of my throat, especially when I swallow?

I've checked WebMD.com and couldn't find any info to help. Yesterday and earlier today I felt like maybe I had allergies. I had to blow my nose a few times, and my throat felt a little sore. Earlier this afternoon, the inside of my left ear started to hurt a little, too. It doesn't hurt really bad, it feels kinda like a sore throat. It bothers me the most every time I swallow.

Is this normal.. like just allergies or something? Is it something I should be concerned about?

Is there any simple home remedy I can do to make it feel better?

(Oh, and just in case any nurses are here to answer my question: My diet hasn't changed lately, and I haven't taken any medication for anything except for Milk of Magnesia that I took a couple days ago for constipation. I'd never had MoM before, so I don't know if it's a reaction to that.)

  1. If you're running fever, then you need to see a Dr.  It could be strep and that requires antibiotics

A home remedy we use here is some warm tap water, mixed w/ about a tbsp of salt and about a half a cup of lemon juice.  Soothes the throat very well.

also, take tylenol for the pain.  If you're having trouble sleeping, maybe try tylenol pm??
