Why would the lights be flashing on my car and the doors be automatically locking? Car Experts?

I have an Infinity QX4 1997, it is an SUV and for the past few hours, the headlights have been flashing as if I am locking the doors with my remote key-locker but I am not pressing it, and it automatically locks itself and just continues to flash and try to keep locking even though it is already locked. I don't know ANYTHING about cars and I have no idea how to make it stop or why it is doing it in the first place. Any help? I really don't know what to do and I don't want my lights to be flashing all night and my battery be run down tomorrow.

  1. i'm thinking it's probably in alarm mode, except your alarm is also in silent mode, hence all it does is flash its lights and try to keep locking. try unlocking it, open a door, close it, and lock it again.

you can also try checking if any of the doors are ajar.

if that doesn't work, disconnect your battery so it doesn't run out (and in the process turn off the alarm), and in the morning, call a car electrician, or the guy who sold you the alarm.

  2. make sure all doors are closed, see if you hit the panic button by accident. press the unlock or lock button if it has an electronic key.

  3. try taking the batterys out of the remote..?

  4. maybe the button on your key-fob is sticking on. If you still can't get the thing to turn off, simply open the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable (the one that is black and that doesn't have any plastic cover on the terminal). All you will need is a wrench or pliers to loosen the bolt a few turns, then just twist the terminal off the battery. Then you will have peace of mind for now. Good Luck!

  5. your remote might be stuck on lock have someone take the remote a couple hundred feet away to see if it still happens

  6. your alarm is going off. Why you aren't hearing the horn blowing is beyond me. Disconnect the battery under the hood. Leave it disconnected for the rest of the night. Re attach it in the morning. It should behave normally.
