We got a tv today from somewhere like a pond shop and the guy showed us it worked ok. we had to put the tv face down (the screen) to get it in the back of the car. So, what could be wrong with the transistor causing it to buzz and how can it be fixed?

  1. Transistor don't buzz....coils do....

And power supplys always emit some sort of buzzing sound. Lots of coils in them.

The REAL question should be, does it function?

And is the buzzing LOUDER than the normal volume levels of the audio?

All TVs buzz, but they shouldn't buzz loud enough to make you turn up your TV set's volume control to an uncomfortable level.....

I did have Mr "Super-sentive ears" complain about the buzz on his TV set....but he listened to it at incomprehendsively LOW audio levels...like 5% of the volume bar...and normal is 30% !

    Can't fix his ears, unfortunately.....

  2. A TV has thousands of transistors, if not 10's of thousands. How did you narrow it down to just one? And what makes you think it is causing the buzzing sound?

  3. What clue do you have to make you think that a transistor is the culprit, let alone making the buzzing sound.  Are you sure it is not coming out of the speakers?
