  1. actually it is optional.  we are in america.  i do tip... however, im tired of waiters and waitresses complaining about it.  youre not the only ones who get screwed occasionally.  the world does not owe you a living.

  2. If the food was not a good quality you may not tip. Or if you ran out of money I guess. Still, I really believe there is no really good reason to not tip the waiter or waitress. If the food was of bad quality, don't blame it on the server, it's not like they made the food. All they did is deliver it.

  3. I wouldn't do that! I tip 20% always!

  4. People who work as waitresses and waiters make more money from tips than from paychecks.  Even if the food is HORRIBLE, it's still really nice to leave a tip if the service is good.

  5. IF your food was AWFUL it is still not your servers fault!!!!

they do not make the food it is their job to bring you what you need including your food but if it is bad they should not be punished.

and servers get screwed VERY OFTEN by idiots who cant figure out what a proper tip should be. if your bill was $100, you should tip $16(16%) for okay service, $18 (18%) for good, and $20 (20%) for excellent.

Often servers get taxed so much on their regular wage that they get NO PAYCHECK which means that your tip is the only income they receive. So please, learn how to tip accordingly.

    * and for the people who tip little or none, remember that you should then never frequent a restaurant more than once! YOU SHOULD NEVER MESS WITH THE PEOPLE WHO HANDLE YOUR FOOD!*

  6. Send them to McDonalds!!

I guess if the food was bad and they didn't try to resolve it.  Although I wouldn't blame the waiter/waitress I would just not ever eat there again.

People are getting to be tightwads lately.

  7. I would always tip if the service was great. It is not the servers fault if the food was bad! Don't base your tip on the food. I used to be a server and I always tip at least 20%.

Yes here in the USA we tip. But if we didn't? The price of food would sky rocket. Employers save a lot of money on wages so they can have the food at a lower price. The service also wouldn't be as good.

If someone gives me great service, I wil reward them for it. If I feel I didn't have enough money to tip? I wouldn't have went out in the first place.

  8. I don't understand people who do that. Tipping is non-optional! Waiters and waitresses have a lower minimum wage because they are /expected/ to get money from tipping.

  9. The food might have been terrible.

  10. you would do it if your a jerk. if your a half decent person, you will tip
