Why would united of states rather use other countries petrol or oil than to use their own resources?

Why is everyone worried about drilling our oil?  Why not ask why we are spending billions of dollars to steal another countries oil when we can run on electric or water powered crs.  Look up Stan Meyer for the water car (it's been replicated 3 times) or tesla motors for the electric. Then ask yourself, if GM released EV1 an electric car in the 90's (the third time in history an electric car was sold) why did they crush them all?  Because when you own an oil company AND a car company, you don't want your cars to use anything other than your non-renewable resource?  You don't, end of story.  It's All a scam wake up (unless you are one of the CIA FBI or NSA members who's job it is to go online and make sure people are as dumb as possible about what is really going on)

Good Question!

The drilling of our own oil is limited by the amount of environmentalists that protest the drilling, claiming that it's bad for the animals or other various things. I'm not saying I don't think we should take care of the animals and environment and not cause them undo harm; however, they're being a bit too extreme in my opinion.

I'm not sure what is going through the oil tycoons' and gov. officials' heads when it comes to our oil, but in my opinion, we need to get back to using more of our own resources and not be dependent on the other nations. If our suppliers cut us off, a shock wave would ensue and during the time it would take to get online with our oil, we would be vulnerable to foreign powers. The same goes with the manufacturing and technology that has been sent overseas.

these resources are in very remote and hard to drill areas and would cost more to get it refined then it is to import....not to mehtion the destruction of the natural environment....
