Why would women lose power in an agrarian society?

I thought that women were the earliest farmers, around the time of the transition from gathering to farming during the neolithic revolution. So how would they lose power, wouldn't they gain it since farming was the main way of getting food at that time?

  2. Not sure, but I do know that female fertility goddesses were replaced by male gods, and that before the Agrarian Revolution matrilineal kinship was replaced by the patrilineal line...I think that it still causes problems to this day
