Why would you choose oak furniture over others for your dining room?

umm because especially in my house i know that pine doesnt stand up to oak in durability, oak is one of the strongest woods, and in a dininning room u pick strong, and elegant looks

i wouldnt. i would choose cherry wood. that is my favorite.

Some pieces look better in oak, for example Mission style looks better in oak, where as Colonial looks better in cherry.

Although not to my taste for dining furniture, Oak is a great option for dining room furniture because it is one of the most durable of woods and will last for years and years. It has a very attractive grain and looks great stained.

Because I love oak furniture!  Pine doesn't hold up well and I don't care for cherry or walnut stains (too dark or too red).
