Most professional blackjack players will NEVER SPLIT SIXES!

They will tell you that you should expect the next card to be a ten, so splitting a pair of sixes means that you will end up with 16, which is the worst hand for a player to have.

On the contrary, most professional blackjack players will ALWAYS SPLIT EIGHTS, even in the face of a dealer ten upcard.  If the next card is a ten, you have 18, which is certainly better than 26.

You are statistically more likely to make 16s on each if you split the 6s than make a 21 or lower if you keep the 12 and hit it.  Obviously either way you have to hit the 16s or any combination thereof with the split (your only way out of hitting twice on the split is to hit with an ace--a 10 or less means 16 or less.)  It's a risk but you're still better off hitting the 12.

I misread your question...YOU NEVER SPLIT (that is what I thought you were saying)...because odds are your next card will be a 10 and you don't want to be left with 16...yeah there are the rare occasion that you will get low cards etc...but most of the time it doesn't work out that way...but that's why it's gambling and you have to take chances sometimes...

i would because i know i have 12 and 9 or less would be helpful but if you split small cards you stand a good chance of going over trying to get to 21

Well, if ya only wanna lose one bet, and you aren't sure if you can beat the dealer, then you don't want to split. It might cost ya two. Peace!
