  1. They can check for a number of things via ultrasound. One doctor wanted me to get an ultrasound to check the lumpiness in my b*****s.

  2. Mainly to look for endometriosis or fibroids, or possibly ovarian cyst- that's if the ultrasound is of your reproductive area. You'd get a scan looking for those if you had pain in the area, or irregular periods or problems conceiving.

They can also do ultrasounds of your kidneys if they think you have kidney stones or an infection, and for quite a lot of other things.

My husband even had an ultrasound of his leg- he had a hard lump in his thigh and they scanned it to find out what it was. Turned out it was some kind of cyst and not a problem.

  3. Could be all sorts of reasons - are you trying to get pregnant? I had an ultrasound when I was unsuccessfully trying and it turned out I had Poly cystic Ovarian Syndrome - treatable as years later I am the proud mother of two wonderful children

  4. A transvaginal (internal) sonogram can detect masses, cysts and tumors in your "female" areas. I have had several that weren't related to pregnancy. Its routine and most of the time normal.

  5. I've had an ultrasound on my liver and gallbladder before when I was having problems with my blood work.

  6. if ur having pain they can c whats causing it such as a cyst or possibly a kidney stone

  7. Ultrasounds are used to examine all different areas, not just uteruses.  Such as kidneys, hearts, etc.  Whatever organ needs looking at.
