  1. I'm voting for McCain.

I was thinking about the differences between my father's generation and young people today. I'm afraid that too many young people have raised hearing nothing but bad things about America all their lives.

McCain makes me feel that patriotism, as honest and selfless service to your country, was still alive in me. That is the person I want to be my leader. My dad was in the Navy during World War II. When his tour was up, he re-enlisted "for the duration." I can't imagine the courage of that generation. And it makes me a little ashamed.

The chances of McCain dying in office can't be measured in the way one of my fellow answerers asserts. People are living a lot longer in 2008 than when George Washington was sworn in.  The comparison should be made against American men who were born the year McCain was born, and not across generations of Presidents over the last 230-odd years.

  2. That was all republican media rumors, watch more TV.

  3. Ok.  McCain made propaganda recordings denouncing America..  maybe that is why he didn't come backs so fast.

Palin was in a group that voted to succeed from the USA.

The national anthem is only supposed to have the salute IF YOU ARE IN UNIFORM.  If not then you stand at attention.

Now that is why.  WHY WOULD YOU PICK THE McCAIN/PALIN TICKET?

  4. It will save you money Justin? Really? What if you don't have a job how will that SAVE you money?

He's going after the people who create the jobs and he wants to also go after peoples investments. I think you have the wool over your eyes.

I don't see how companies and business owners paying higher tax will benefit the middle class and poor when jobs are cut to compensate. You take from them and it trickles down. Simple ECON, my friend. Try it!

  5. I wouldn't if he didn't.  However, one doesn't say the national anthem, one sings along with it.  Few of us are capable of singing such a difficult song well, not that Obama hasn't.  If you mean the Pledge of Allegiance, Obama has said it quite publicly, although your sources aren't going to tell you that.  And if a Vietnam war experience is the only qualification for being President, how about Ron Kovic, the guy who wrote Born on the Fourth of July?  I doubt that you would agree with his take on any of the issues.

Choosing a President on such trivial qualifications bodes ill for our country.

I prefer Obama(though he is far from perfect) because of his stands on abortion rights and diplomacy instead of kneejerk militarism.  Those are the kinds of things I base my vote on, not who wears the most American flag lapel pins!

  6. why should saying the national anthem or not be a deciding factor?

    are there no bigger issues?

being a viet nam vet does not make mccain better for the job.  every new thing i hear about him and his VP pick makes me more suspicious that hes either TRYING to lose, or more incompetent than anyone had imagined.

  7. I SAW THIS PALIN CHICK SPEAK THE OTHER NIGHT YEAH SHE WAS TALKING REAL LOUD AND SAYING NOTHING YEAH SHE MAYBE GOV OF ALASKA WITH ALL THE ESKIMOS,POLAR AND GRIZZLY BEARS AND THAT c**p.SHE NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT HER VIEWS ON CIVIL RIGHTS AND OTHER ISSUES THAT REVELENT TO THIS COUNTRY.AS FAR AS MC CAIN IS CONCERNED HE'S BUSH SERVING A THIRD TERM I DO REMEMBER HIM VOTING AGAINST MLK HOLIDAY IN HIS STATE OF ARIZONA, ENOUGH SAID, OBAMA-BIDEN ALL THEY WAY IN 08

  8. Because the world is complicated and so, to deal with it, I think we need an intelligent, educated person at the helm.

If a president was only a figurehead, elected to represent silly-arsed "values" and other vague things we can wave flags at, then, sure, I could understand your point.

But we need more than a figurehead to figure out how to deal with the world we're in and the one we'll be in in the future.

Vote for intelligence, vote for things that effect how a person will make decisions and work with people to get things done.

  9. Over half of all Americans would probably do the same thing. How many of our Olympic athletes did you see actually singling the national anthem after their victories? (Answer: less than 10%). Does that mean they're unpatriotic?

Your priorities are screwed. You probably think that John McCain's POW experience has anything at all to do with being a good leader in today's world. Geeeesh!

  10. I'm a pacifist.  I don't believe in any war.  Ever.  McCain thinks we need to stay in the war for 5 more years.  Obama wants us out sooner.

McCain may be a vet - but he cheated on his wife - and if elected - our first lady will be a home wrecker.  I want the person running my country to be as virtuous as possible.

McCain's running mate has trouble figuring out her priorities ("hmmm.  should I have five children or should I be second in command to the strongest country in the world?  I don't know! hmmmm.  I guess I'll do BOTH!!!")

Obama is young - and probably won't die in office.  Even if he does - Biden has some good experience under his belt.  McCain is 72 - and has had some bouts with cancer.  Eight of our 42 presidents have died while they are in office.  That's almost 20%.  McCain - if elected - will be the oldest president ever elected.  So - on top of his old age and the concern that his cancer will return -  there is, statistically - a 20% chance that he will die while in office.  I don't want some NRA member, hockey mom with lipstick - who has a 4 year degree in journalism from a little known University - running the country.  Do you?

I'm just waiting for the debates.  Then we'll all see who is capable of the job.

  11. yawn, he is the best

Do you even know what you are talking about?

over the VIET NAM VET.... what exactly is that?

  12. For a well needed change in this country.  Both candidates have very strong and very negative ideas.  However, many times neither candidate is really "good"... I am undecided, but this has been a very interesting campaign.

  13. A.  He does say the PLEDGE ( I'm assuming that's what you were going for, as the anthem is usually sung).  Try to keep up.

    B.  His record shows he agrees with me on the issues that are important to me.

  14. Sadly many people will vote for him simply because he's a democrat, some because of his color, and some because they disliked the Bush years.  Many democrats can't see another Clinton in the oval office, I agree.  Me being a republican (was once a democrat) can't see another Bush in office either.

Obama is a smart charismatic man, and a very polished speaker.  He doesn't get my vote because I see business owners like myself being forced into paying for the liberal "give away" benefits for people too lazy to work.  I have also failed to see hm truly explainhow he will solve any of our problems, only who's to blame for them.  I wasn't very excited about John McCain in the beginning, but have tremendous respect for him as an American and as a very experienced person in Washington.  But he's different enough from the far right which I like, and so do millions of other Americans.

Plus, I just love Sarah Palin.  Many may question her experience, but she's been a Mayor and is currently a Governor so she's got plenty of qualifications. I also like that she'll bring a new fresh approach to Washington, something that's been needed for a long time.  Hillary Clinton and Nancy Poloci better watch out, there's gonna be a new queen bee in town.

  15. I believe Obama does not love his country as much as McCain.

  16. He does. Just because he "may" of didn't on one occasion. Has nothing to do with his ability to lead this country.

Take McCain. You may see him as more patriotic right? Well, so what. As far as I'm concerned, i just as patriotic as him. Do I have  flag out side my House? No. On my car? No. Do I love this country. Absolutely. Very proud to be an american the flag, the anthems, they are symbolic. ACTIONS are what counts.

To me Obama is more patriotic than McCain because he is for the people. There would not be an America if not for its citizens. America was built on the backs of the working class. WE are the foundation and its high time folks start to acknowledging that fact. That would be very patriotic.

  17. It will save me $$$$$

  18. Well, nobody "says" the national anthem, you sing it.  And I wouldn't want to "say" the national anthem over a Vietnam vet either.  You recite the Pledge of Allegiance with your hand over your heart.

And after the revelation that Scary Palin once supported a secessionist group, nobody should even think to question Obama's patriotism.

    Besides, I don't vote for the anti-choice.

  19. It's a sad state of affairs!!

  20. what's that gotta do with lowering your taxes and reducing foreign dependence on oil, so that you can afford to drive your car.

  21. i wouldn't

  22. Obama's for the middle class, he's for peace on Earth, education, healthcare, helping our communities, undoing the mistakes of GWB.   McCain is for continuing those mistakes, and s******g the middle class, so I'm for Obama.

  23. Figure it out yourself.

  24. Because McCain has cooties.

  25. Oh My God.that sophie lady has been smoking too many bong hits...I think she is the  queen of the osama-bots...

I think that osama barry bin-lying would make a fine fine president.....of iran or syria....he is a socialist that wants to raise taxes and increase government handouts....so instead of the 3rd of the month being liberal hand out day....why not have it once a week....close your eyes and open your hands...the liberal lemming program is ready to give you your weekly rations......

osama and his wide-eyed empty-headed army is in for a rude awakening come November 4th.....

  26. If you listened carefully last night to McCain's speech, you heard him describe himself early on as a young, brash, self-confident, self-centered person, someone who didn't love his country so much as he loved himself.  McCain might have added the question, "Does this remind you of any other Presidential candidate?"  McCain's subsequent experience in Hanoi taught him some of the fundamental lessons of life, and he left a different person, someone ready to devote himself to a higher cause.  Perhaps someday Obama will also grow up, but he isn't there yet, and I think we should go with the candidate who doesn't need a voyage of self-discovery because he already knows who he is and what he stands for.

  27. I would pick Hussein Obama if I was an Iraqi insurgent or an Al Qaeda leader.  Or if I was a liberal who hopped with all my heart to see America  fall from its spot as the premier nation.

  28. i will not pick him because Mccain has loads more experience, ability and honor.he also picked a reformer as a VP.McCain palin 08

  29. because it's trendy to like obama, he's like the next miley cyrus, except she has more executive experience.

  30. You have been conned by all the right-wing rhetoric on Faux News, your church, and the people who surround you. Think for yourself.

    Obama will:

Provide Short-term Relief to American Families

*Enact a Windfall Profits Tax to Provide a $1,000 Emergency Energy Rebate to American Families.

Obama will enact a windfall profits tax on excessive oil company profits to give American families an immediate $1,000 emergency energy rebate to help families pay rising bills. This relief would be a down payment on Obama’s long-term plan to provide middle-class families with at least $1,000 per year in permanent tax relief.

*Crack Down on Excessive Energy Speculation.

Barack Obama will close energy industry market loopholes and increase transparency to prevent traders from unfairly lining their pockets, while driving up oil prices at the expense of the American people.

*Swap Oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to Cut Prices.

With oil prices doubling in the past year, Barack Obama believes we have an economic emergency that requires a limited, responsible swap of light oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) for heavy crude oil to help bring down prices at the pump.

Eliminate Our Need for Middle Eastern and Venezuelan Oil within 10 Years

    *Increase Fuel Economy Standards.

Obama will increase fuel economy standards 4 percent per year while providing $4 billion for domestic automakers to retool their manufacturing facilities in America to produce these vehicles.

*Get 1 Million Plug-In Hybrid Cars on the Road by 2015.

These vehicles can get up to 150 miles per gallon. Barack Obama believes we should work to ensure these cars are built here in America, instead of factories overseas.

*Create a New $7,000 Tax Credit for Purchasing Advanced Vehicles.

*Establish a National Low Carbon Fuel Standard.

Obama will establish a National Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) to reduce the carbon in our fuels 10 percent by 2020. Obama will also require 60 billion gallons of advanced biofuels to be phased into our fuel supply by 2030.

*A “Use it or Lose It” Approach to Existing Oil and Gas Leases.

Obama will require oil companies to develop the 68 million acres of land (over 40 million of which are offshore) which they have already leased and are not drilling on.

*Promote the Responsible Domestic Production of Oil and Natural Gas.

An Obama administration will establish a process for early identification of any infrastructure obstacles/shortages or possible federal permitting process delays to drilling in the Bakken Shale formation, the Barnett shale formation, and the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska.

Create Millions of New Green Jobs

*Ensure 10 percent of Our Electricity Comes from Renewable Sources by 2012, and 25 percent by 2025.

*Deploy the Cheapest, Cleanest, Fastest Energy Source -- Energy Efficiency.

Obama will set an aggressive energy efficiency goal -- to reduce electricity demand 15 percent from projected levels by 2020.

    *Weatherize One Million Homes Annually.

Obama will make a national commitment to weatherize at least one million low-income homes each year for the next decade, which can reduce energy usage across the economy and help moderate energy prices for all.

*Develop and Deploy Clean Coal Technology.

Obama’s Department of Energy will enter into public private partnerships to develop five “first-of-a-kind” commercial scale coal-fired plants with clean carbon capture and sequestration technology.

*Prioritize the Construction of the Alaska Natural Gas Pipeline.

As president, Obama will work with stakeholders to facilitate construction of the pipeline. Not only is this pipeline critical to our energy security, it will create thousands of new jobs.

Reduce our Greenhouse Gas Emissions 80 Percent by 2050

*Implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.

Obama's cap-and-trade policy will require all pollution credits to be auctioned, and proceeds will go to investments in a clean energy future and rebates and other transition relief for families.

*Make the U.S. a Leader on Climate Change.

Obama will re-engage with the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) -- the main international forum dedicated to addressing the climate problem. He will also create a Global Energy Forum of the world’s largest emitters to focus exclusively on global energy and environmental issues.

However he will cut taxes for Americans making under 250K and remove income tax from retirees making less than 50K. He will implement new alternate energy ideas that will create new jobs and wean us off of our dependency for foreign oil. He will restore our reputation in the world. He will end this war, that is costing this country billions of dollars a month, responsibly, bring home our veterans and make sure they get proper benefits. He will provide free health care for children and the elderly. He will promote scientific research that will help same millions. He will give subsidies to companies that keep jobs in America. He will reduce the national debt. He will use diplomacy and only go to war as a LAST resort. Obama also respects women's right to choose and does NOT support discriminating against g*y Americans.

McCain, on the other hand plans on cutting taxes too...for the rich. He will continue this expensive and unjust war that was based on lies and false intelligence and possibly extend it to Iran. He will continue Bush's failed policies that have led from a healthy economy when Bush took office to what it is now. He will place into the Supreme Court new justices that will try to reverse Roe vs. Wade, which would be unconstitutional. He will promote Republican economic policies that have led to a shrinking of the middle class and increasing income inequality. He will privatize social security and healthcare, risking the retirement of our countries seniors and making the Pharmaceutical companies even richer than they are. He will continue to give subsidies to companies that transfer American jobs overseas. Furthermore, he has anger management problems (which he takes medication for) and is emotionally unstable. We cannot trust him to act with diplomacy when dealing with other countries.

Furthermore, Obama had the wisdom to choose a running mate that could stand alone as president if need be. McCain's choice, on the other hand shows that he is more interested in catering to religious extremists than in doing what is best for America.

  31. Because he's the man who opposed the RIGHT WING MORON, not the man who voted with him 95 percent of the time.
