Why wouldn't my DVD/CD writer read blank DVDs?

I was once able to burn DVDs with my current burner. But after a few months ago, it wouldn't even read blank DVDs. I can write CDs by the way. Just blank DVDs are my problem. What can i do to fix. Please help me.

ttry getting hte lens cleaned.

or resinstall the Dvd apps

if you left click on a flie on xp you are usually given an option send to

and then blank data cd/dvd etc then you can write it from there this should work
