  1. The Heroin was found next to her luggage, not packed in  her luggage.  What evidence is there besides the proximity that it was ever in her possession? Any case involving such coincidental evidence is incredibly weak.


  2. If found guilty in Canada, prison time. There is no automatic off in Canada, but I don't think it would be a life sentence.

  3. You are in fact in the hands of the country where you are arrested.  There is a case of an Australian woman in Bali who was handed a 20 year sentence for drug trafficking.  She is lucky the usual  sentence for that crime there is death.  If you commit a crime in another country you will (for the most part), be held to that countries standards.
