I was interviewing for a job that was looking for someone that would be a good listener to someone that had an aniety disorder. So basically they just needed someone to talk to. I was asked this question, " Why you are interested beyond just wanting to help? " This question was hard for me to answer. I knew what I was trying to say but I had a hard time putting words together. I wanted the money, yet I wanted to be someone who could be helpful. My question is, how would've you answerd this question if it were you being asked?

  1. The human psychology is an interesting thing to study and I believe this experience will give me rare insight to a specific phenomenon.

  2. i would have said "i dont really want to help im just in it for the money" maybe gave a wink if it was a girl : p

  3. I'm interested in people and society. I'd like to maybe write a book or do some research with a study group. I have a curiosity about people and their situations. Of course I want to help but I'm also interested in the larger picture, what is driving these people to have these problems in the first place.

  4. The more contact we have with other human beings, the more fulfilling & enriching our lives become.

Everyone has had different experiences, and as a result everyone has fascinating stories to tell. I am interested in meeting as many people as possible during my life, talking with them, and learning about their lives & experiences.

I can remember several occasions where I took time out to talk with a complete stranger just because that simple interaction might make a difference. I don't recall what we spoke about, but it was the act of sharing a moment was important.

  5. I probably would have said " I am interested in the Mental Health field and am always interested learning new things that could further my advancement in the field.  I feel this job is a stepping stone for my future as a clinical psychologist (or whatever).  What motivates me most right now is finding a job where I can really make a difference in someone's life."  Even if you aren't interested in the mental health field....it never hurts to baffle them with bullshit..........

  6. for the money.
