Why youngsters should be politically aware?

Is this really important? What's good of it to our daily lives? How can we benefit from it? How can it prepare for our future? How can we improve our political awareness? Through what channels?

I have all these questions and I wish someone can help me! You don't really need to follow the questions and you can suggest other things relating to this question. Thx a lot!!!!

Youngsters should be politically aware because they are the future of the country and will be playing the roles of leaders that could affect their lives directly and the society.

It is very important to become politically aware. The more you pay attention to the political tide around you the more able you will be to vote when the time comes. Also be on guard from teachers dictating to you. Keep an open mind. Question everything, everyone. Research for yourself. " Trust but verify" ( Ronald Reagan )

Not only will you be a more informed citizen, you may be able to run for office yourself some day.

It is good so that they can make there own decisions and not be indoctrinated by the public school system.

Almost everyone will be old enough to vote someday. As citizens, I believe that it is the duty of every (or at least those over 18) American to be informed and vote. Voting is a powerful method that we as Americans can use to make our voices heard.

By becoming aware at a younger age, we have a better understanding of the issues and how the government works. There's really no reason not to be politically aware!

Being politically aware can help us prepare for the future since we know the issues and can, therefore, make decisions that will impact our future. The government needs to be kept in check, and a necessary component to keeping it in check is by making sure people vote and they are informed.

We can improve our political awareness by discussing issues on a regular basis, joining political clubs, and watching and reading the news. As for which channels to watch, I watch CNN, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, CNBC, CSPAN, basically whatever network has something interesting politics related on at the moment. I also read the newspaper and various magazines (World, Time, occasionally Newsweek) and read Yahoo! news.

I think they should be politically aware so they'll be more informed when they reach adulthood and are able to vote.  However I think we should also allow children to enjoy their childhood and give them a chance to be kids.

They will be drafted to fight the war without end and they will pay the bill.  Two good reasons to be aware and involved in politics.

at every election, only about 50% of the population cast their votes, and they are the ones making the big decision instead of the youngsters who don't vote.  

and remember, whether the politicians lie or not, they need your vote, so as long as they can get your vote, they'll at least promise something that you might care about.

the politicians have been very successful at leaving the kids out of voting system by ignoring all of their concerns so that they have only adults to deal with.  S****y, isn't it?

on the other hand, look at Ron Paul, he's gaining a lot of attention from the Youth because he working towards helping out the youngsters in one way or another.  and since the youngsters are voting for them, Ron Paul will listen to them.  it's quite a simple logic.

the problem is that it costs so much to run for a political office, youth can't afford it.  so basically they don't have anyone to represent them, that's why it doesn't attract the youngsters, though the outcome of each election does affect them deeply.

so my suggestion would be, start up a group of youth, pick one person to represent the youth, and vote for him.  you might be surprised by the result.  that alone should get you excited.  another possibility is, follow odd balls like Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich.  they may not be youngsters, but they don't seem to be scumbags.
