  1. it has alot of great shops, and a variety of people. the buildings are old, and great. it is a great street to spend the afternoon. as for the drinking, there are a few bars, if you are into that.

  2. drinking drinking and well more drinking

  3. I visited Edmonton last summer and spent an afternoon strolling Whyte Ave.  IMO, it's just a typical downtown street to shop and people watch.  It would be THE street to do so in Edmonton.  Some of the architecture was nifty, but again, you'll find that in most cities that are not totally new.  Perhaps research the history of Whyte Ave.

I was pretty impressed with the West Edmonton Mall.

I was shocked by the low price of real estate.  Can you do a project about that???

  4. First of all Whyte Ave is NOT downtown, it is on the South Side.

It is one of the oldest areas in Edmonton, and is located about a block away from the University of Alberta.

Whyte Ave is always littered with people young and old of every shape, color and size.  Whether it's cold or hot out it is BUSY!!

There are street fairs, and farmers markets, art shows, Ice festivals and all kinds of attractions all year around.

There are all kind of vintage shops and private shops that you won't find elsewhere in Edmonton, they are a one location deal.

There are about 100 different resturants and bars with outdoor patios and music of all kinds.

It is a HUGE ATTRACTION when the OIlers make Playoffs.  It becomes our "Blue Mile"

Maybe as far as history goes you should do some research on it, I am not old enough to know the past of it, but I told you what I know from what I have seen

  5. BTW... Real estate isn't low in Edmonton.

Whyte ave is your typical drinking street at night. Every second business is a bar. Be careful at night, lots of stabbings are going on.

  6. Whyte ave ...also known as 82 Ave is really popular because its a couple of blocks from the University campus. There are a bunch of stores, restaurants, and bars there...basically, its where students go  for friday or saturday drinking! or daytime outdoor shopping..

In the summer time, the FRINGE festival is there too...Basically whyte ave is where all the bars are located and is circled with student housing and student residences. It is not in the SOUTH....it is CENTRAL...like the university campus.....its a few blocks south of the Saskatchewan River.
