I need help... big time. Lol, anyways, currently i have an iMac, the older model (the white one) and i get internet from a motorola SURFboard Cable Modem, although i want to switch to Wi-fi. Is this done by purchasing a wireless modem that sends internet signals? Or must you install something into the computer. Also, do Wiis pick it up automatically?

  1. If your iMac doesn't have built-in wireless (I don't know much about this on Macs) you need to get a Mac-compatible WiFi adapter (I imagine there are a number of USB wifi adapters compatible with Mac)

As for your modem, you need to get a Wireless Router to plug into your modem.  This is the same for all users, Mac PC or otherwise.  I like the Belkin 54G router because it's dirt cheap compared to other brands and seems to work well.

  2. Get a new modem that has wireless. For your computer I think that you might need some kind of wireless thing. Ask the apple store about the imac getting on the internet with a wireless dsl modem. Also, yes if you have a wii and a wireless dsl modem then you can set the modem to pick up the signal automatically. I just forgot how to though.

  3. No, you will still need the modem. You can get wifi by connecting a wireless access point to the modem.
