Wiccan..pegan and christian

Question

now the bible tell us not to put any god before him.. but wiccans and pegans have other god that they pray to to help them..but buy the saying not to put anyone before me.. is that not a jealous saying..and it does say that he is a jealous god..is not being jealous wrong?

And that is why I don't think the Bible is something to be taken so seriously and is flawed.

As a Christian, I understand what you're saying, but Christians believe in only one god. That command was to not worship idols, which still holds true today. If you worship Christ, you worship Christ who is God.

I have friends who are pagan, and one who is a witch. I do not get involved in their prayers and they do not get involved in mine. I have every respect for them, but we don''t agree on religion.

There is such a thing as righteous jealousy, just like there is righteous anger. Righteous jealousy is not wrong.

I think that this is a good example of how people add human flaws to the creator. I know that it says the whole jealousy thing in the bible, it also portrays God as being some angry, temperamental being, that throws tantrums and goes around killing people because they don't obey. Yet, at the same time, it preaches to humans not to do any of those things and that they are sins...so does that make God sinful???

In all my life I have never met that side of the creator and I have been practicing for years and years. I even explored Christianity for a time, to know how to better help a Catholic friend...

And even then, all those terrible things, never came up for me.

I think it's a matter of seeing the truth that is beneath the surface. The bible has many contradictions but maybe it was always meant to be that way. Maybe the only way it could survive is if it was as cryptic as it is now.

Stranger things have happened. ;)

Wiccans and Pagans do not believe in the Christian God. Therefore, they are not putting any god before any other god. They have their dieties, and those are the only deities they believe in.

As you know, "jealousy" is most commonly used to refer to the desire of something belonging to someone else. This is a sin.

However, it can also be something that rightfully belongs to you. This would NOT be a sin.

God, by right, should have ALL human worship.

Just keep in mind that the bible was written by man and man has those human attributes of jealousy.  I doubt any god would be jealous.

Wow.

'For I am a jealous God.'  In theory, since this god is superior to man, he has the right to be envious or upset if someone doesn't worship him.  

Since you brought up the pagan gods, Athena was jealous over a necklace and turned Medusa's hair to snakes.  Hera was jealous of Aphrodite when she received the golden apple and aided the Greeks in defeating the Trojans.  

According to legend, human belief in deities allow them power in this world, so if a god received no worship, that god loses power.

Edit: Medusa was a sea nymph, she was in a race to be Poseidon's bride and win the necklace as the trophy.  She won the race.  Athena wanted the necklace, but wouldn't race because she hated Poseidon and would never consider being his bride.  She cursed Medusa with hair of snakes so that all who looked upon her would turn to stone.

Also: sorry about the spell checker, I fixed the error.  The Greeks defeated the Trojans, not the Romans.

Just be a faithful Christian there is no reason not to. I would rather live believing in God and find out He doesn't exist, than to be a pagan or a wiccan and find out He does exist.

when "god says to not put any gods before him he also says things like do not covet thy neighbors wife or ox ( hey ladies see what regard the holy father puts you in )  so "god " is a hypocrite ...if he wasn't made up by fearful men who wanted to control the masses !

God clearly states that He 'is' a jealous God!  He gave life to every single, solitary one of us!  We would not "be" without Him!  I would be jealous too!

Jealous by what do you mean...... If you mean that being so jealous that you cant concentrate with out it being on your mind thats wrong but little here and there isnt nothin
