  1. You can tell a fundie witch because:

She thinks her book of shadow was written by the Goddess specifically for her.

    )O(

  2. A fundie Wiccan imho, would be someone who is arrogant enough to believe that their brand is the only brand. My Wicca's better than yours because I say it is and reasons a, b, and c back me up. The term itself implies adherence to a dogma that doesn't exist. Wicca breathes, plain and simple. No one person or group of people has been granted the right to limit the practice of others.

That said, there are commonly recognized standards that make Wicca unique and separate from other paths. They are the base from which all else grows. At the very least they could be stated as the belief in the divine presence in all things (God, Goddess, The All, etc.). Adherence to the Wheel of the Year and an understanding why the celebrations occur when they do. Transformation and improvement of the inner self is as important as attempting to change the physical world around you. Acknowledgment that we all possess a dark (shadow) side that isn't evil, but rather an extension of ourselves that needs to be dealt with, reconciled, and accepted. In that vein, we need to do the same with the Dark Goddess. Wicca isn't all love, light, blessed be, and feeding the birdies.

  3. Put it simple...

Fundie: Amber and Jet 3rd Degree Gardnerian Witch of the Wica for 30+ Years, thinks everything outside of BTW is fluffy c**p and wouldn't be caught dead at a Pagan gathering that wasn't clothing optional or BTW in structure.

Standard: They know their place, they are not egocentric, and they know and respect each and every person for their own path as long as it doesn't interfere with their path.

    Sound good? :D

Edit: Lazlo...that's not a fundie...that's a fluffy. A fundie would hunt you down for saying something like that about them. LOL

  4. A "fundie" Wiccan?  What's that, a Gardnerian purist, fanatic and extremist who threatens with hellfire any Alexandrian or other Wiccan sects?

Frankly, I don't believe such a rara avis, a foul beastie as that, actually exists.

A Wiccan with standards? What kind of standards? 36-24-38? I'd like to meet her!

  5. I'll be honest and just say I've never heard of a fundie wiccan

  6. Fundie Wiccan:  A wiccan that believes their version/tradition of wicca is the only way and all others are wrong; and won't consider opening themselves up to another path or idea.  I've noticed that they are usually not that well educated - but those may just be the ones I've run across.

Wiccan with standards:  A wiccan that holds herself to a specific set of rules/beliefs but is open to the paths of others.
