Wich SUV is a better choice???

Question

I'm looking to buy an SUV and I've narrowed it down to a 2004-2005 dodge durango V8 or a 2005 ford explorer V8 and was wondering wich of the 2 gets more mpg and wich has fewer issues? Any other suggestions will be much appreciated

Neither - they are fuel guzzlers polluting our environment - not too mention a hole in your pocket - use the money wisely and invest in a more economical and environmentally friendly car.

Ford Explorer had less problems.  The 2005 model had 3 recalls none serious that affected drive-ability.  On the Durango, in 2004 there was 4 recalls all that could affect drive-ability. Battery, Speed Control Cables and Electrical Systems. 2005 4 recalls as well.  Automatic Transmission, Electrical system, Fuel Tank, and Windshield Wipers.  

I personally would never buy American because of defects like those on the Durango, but for this, the Explorer seems to be the better choice.

Fuel mileage, I didn't look for exact numbers but it'll be about the same, maybe 1 or 2 MPG difference that don't matter all that much for it is the way you drive that will give you that extra MPG.

Infiniti FX35 or 45 are much better though
