Wich TV is better???

Question

The SONY KDL52V4100 52" 1080P LCD HDTV or the SAMSUNG LN52A550 52" 1080P LCD HDTV??? Here are links to their features Sony: http://shop2.frys.com/product/5541270

Although the Samsung has a higher native contrast level of 30000:1 versus the Sony which has 2500:1, the Samsung suffers from major limited viewing angles especially towards the sides.  Therefore, look into still another alternative:  the  LG 52LB5D which for $2,900 is a better bargain and there is NO viewing dropoff at the sides!

Samsung traditionally do not last very long. Sony has a much better history of quality TVs. Sony has brought the prices down on many of their models recently.

Examine the specs carefully. Look for true contrast ratio and dynamic contrast ratio. The Samsung for example boasts a 30000:1 ratio, and the Sony shows 25000:1, but those are dynamic values, and not the actual image contrast ratio.

Compare available inputs and outputs. Compare response times. They both have the same display resolution. Sony offers a few more features, although you may not use them, and offers more inputs than the Samsung.

The Sony will most certainly be constructed a little better, but will run about $100 more.

Then look at LG. Their home appliances kinda suck, but the TVs are just fabulous.

The LCD panels inside TVs are all made by a handful of manufacturers; 3M, Chi Mei Optoelectronics, Sharp, Canon, Samsung, LG, IPS Alpha, and others. The name on the front is not necessarily the name on the inside.

I would personally go for the Sony.  We've had a couple of Sony TV's for about 10 years now and had no problems with them.

do not get a sony, many sony items break. My ps3 broke the first day i got it, stick with a different brand, me and my friends have had bad luck with sony
