Wich is best, hdtv indoor antenna with 42db gain, or, outdoor antenna with 6db gain?

I've been told that outdoor antenna is better, because of the walls, but isn't the db gain what makes it to receive better image?

It depends on where you live. The best place is in a hill,no high building blocking your house and you house is made of wood,no metal siding,a metal mosquito screen can block most UHF signal. Then an indoor antena can be used. 42 db gain is very high,too high gain is not good for strong signal,you should choose the gain can be adjusted type. Indoor antena with an amplifier  not only amplifies the signal,it also amplify the reflection signal and noise. Better choice is outdoor antenna,if you house is quite far away from TV transmitter (50 miles or more),you need a high gain antenna plus an amplifier. 6 db gain is too small,only good within 20 miles. Choose the amplifier can be adjusted from 10 to 20 db.
