Wickets have been tumbling at WACA ground as Australia dominated the last session of the third day in Perth.
Australia came out to bat after tea and hoped to extend their lead but the wickets fell sooner than they had expected and similarly to Australia, the English team also kept losing wickets regularly.
It has been a bowler-dominant session as seven wickets fell in the last session of play. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 started the post-tea session with Michael Hussey and Peter Siddle. Both the batsmen did not add much to the total and got out early. Australia would have liked
to take the lead to over 400 but failed to do so. This would have been a psychological advantage for Australia but 390 is still a very defendable on the Perth wicket.
England wrapped up the last two Australian batsmen and would have hoped to carry on their good form with the bat which they had lost in the first innings of the Perth Test.
Chasing an improbable target, Andrew Strauss and Alistair Cook got starts but were not able to capitalise on them. Both the batsmen got out on 15 and 13 runs respectively. Kevin Pietersen looked out of sorts and just after he changed his bat, he edged one
in the slips where he was caught off Ben Hilfenhaus.
Jonathan Trott and Paul Collingwood tried to stabilise the innings and survive the day. Just before the close of the play, Trott and Collingwood lost their wickets leaving England in trouble.
At the close of play, England were tottering at 81 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Night watchman James Anderson was unbeaten on nought after facing just one delivery.
It will be difficult for England to survive this Test match as two full days of play are remaining. Australia will be very happy as they have achieved the results they were looking for. Ryan Harris and Mitchell Johnson grabbed a couple of wickets each whereas
Hilfenhaus also took one wicket.
It will be hard work for England and they will rely on Ian Bell and Matt Prior to bat for the team and produce some miracle which seems highly unlikely.
