Wide receiver Jordan Norwood accepts Cleveland Browns’ tender with exclusive rights-NFL News
Cleveland Browns’ wide receiver, Jordan Norwood, has agreed to the tender tag with exclusive rights from the team, which will help the player earn $465K in 2012 National Football League (NFL) season.
According to a couple of media reports on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, Norwood has signed the tender, which makes him stay with Browns another season.
The player’s payout is well within terms of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of this year.
The confirmation of him accepting the tender comes just after the team’s next season campaign, which was started with the voluntary offseason workout from Monday, April 16, 2012.
It is for the first time that coach, Pat Shurmur, is supervising the workout, as despite joining the team as the head coach a year earlier, he could not make it to their preseason activities due to an NFL lockout condition.
Norwood joined Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2009 and has been playing for the side continuously since then.
He had also been waived by Browns earlier and joined the Philadelphia Eagles for a brief period before arriving in Cleveland again.
The player was a part of Browns’ squad last season in which he rushed and gained 268 yards, and a touchdown. He started for the team at four occasions and remained successful.
Following expiry of his previous deal, he has been through a phase of uncertainty about his future. It has ended now with him being tagged for another year with exclusive rights.
None of the team members has confirmed if and when he is going join the team for the voluntary workout.
NFL has released Browns’ 2012 regular season itinerary and they will open the season with a home game against the Philadelphian Eagles on September 09, 2012.
They will end the season with a road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on December 30, 2012 and if are unsuccessful to get through to the playoff phase, it will be all done with their next NFL season campaign.
Browns finished 2011 NFL season with the record of 4-12, proving to be another below par performance.
