Wide receiver Terrell Owens has first practice session with Seattle Seahawks – NFL News
Wide receiver Terrell Owens continued to get the spotlight as he went on the field for his first ever practice session with his new team Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday, August 08, 2012.
Owens spent most of his time on the field practising with the second team. It was Owens' first practice with an NFL team after the 2010 season.
He looked very fit, but showed a bit of sloppiness probably because of lack of time spent on the field. Owens himself acknowledged the fact and said:
"I'm a little rusty, but obviously it's about competing and I'm here to compete for the job."
There were a few parts of the practice where Owens sowed his skills. He also caught a 30-yard reception by quarterback Matt Flynn.
Last year’s Pro Bowl cornerback Brandon Browner did not give any relief to Owens as he thrashed into Owens and got him down on the field.
Large numbers of media personnel come to the Seahawks’ training camp to cover every moment of Owens’ practice.
Owens came up to talk to the media during the session. He had a humble conversation and reiterated the fact that he was not distracted by the media attention he was getting. Owens said:
"It's all about for me now being part of something rather than being the center of something. I understand a lot of the media is here because of me and again, I have changed in a lot of ways. A lot of things have occurred in the last two years, and I've
had a lot of time to think about things and put things in perspective and I just want to move forward . . it's almost like I have to rebuild my career.”
This is definitely the last opportunity for Owens to play in the NFL and will have to perform well if he wants to utilize this opportunity.
The 38-year old veteran looks to be a good addition to the roster that mainly consists of young players.
Owens comes with a depth of experience that could prove vital towards the end of the season. He will face competition from Braylon Edwards for the starting spot.
