Question:

Widescreen movie burn in on Plasma HDTVs?

Just a quick question:

I hear that when you get a plasma tv, you have to break it in the first month or 2 (100-200 hours) by watching fullscreen tv to prevent burn in.

Anyways, I'm just wondering, after that period of breaking it in, will it be alright to watch a widescreen movie? And I don't mean more than one movie right after another. I just mean like one normal length movie. (Say, about 2 hours) Or will I have to zoom in every time I watch a widescreen movie?

-Philip

P.S.- Please don't tell me to get another type of hdtv. I don't want an LCD or DLP for our downstairs. That's not what I'm asking here.

  1. There is no 'break-in' period required for your new TV.  Watch a widescreen movie as soon as you take it out of the box.  There is technology in the new tvs that helps to prevent burn in.  All you need to do is plug it in and start enjoying your new widescreen television.  If you choose to watch 15 widescreen movies in a row, you're not going to cause any problems.

  2. You are correct.

Watching a single movie in widescreen mode should not be an issue.
