Widnes Vikings recruit Castleford Tigers’ Willie Isa – Rugby League news
Willie Isa of Castleford Tigers has penned a two-year contract with Widnes Vikings, starting from the next season of 2012, on September 2, 2011.
Isa who had joined in with the Tigers on a 12-month deal with a total of nine appearances for his outfit was not happy with his injury-prone stint. However, it took Isa until the end of the season to score two tries in a 34-30 win against the Wakefield Trinity
Wildcats. These two famous tries are the highlight for his future association with Vikings.
The team is in its building phase for the forthcoming season with Shaun Briscoe of Hull KR, Ben Davies and Ben Cross from Wigan Warriors, Crusaders’ Frank Winterstein, Lloyd White and  Hep Cahill, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ Chris Dean and Bradford Bulls’
Patrick Ah Van  have already  signed up with Vikings. With the latest recruit of the Castleford, the Vikings’ count for fresh inductions has soared up to nine.
While talking about the latest induction of Isa for his outfit, the Widnes’ coach Denis Betts stated, “Willie arrives at the club with a rich pedigree. He's a classy outside back which is a position that all clubs are finding extremely difficult to source
at the moment and, as an added bonus, he has an X-factor about him as both a player and a person.”
Vikings’ utility back has also previously played for Melbourne Storm and Penrith Panthers before he had joined the Castlefords for their 2011 season.
The coach shared his views about the recruitment and stated that Vikings are striving to create an environment for its future, which is filled with players who are not afraid of hard work at a stretch.
He further went on about the latest happenings within the recruitment process and said that during the recruitment process for 2012, players are willing to set their precedent for the level of commitment demanded by the club.
He added, “We’re looking for is a type of behaviour that actually reaps rewards. Given his upbringing and background, Willie certainly ticks that box for us and I’m confident that he will do a fantastic job for us.”
