Wierd dream, woke up crying. help?

Question

It's pretty wierd and a little embarassing o tell, so I'm just gonna skip to the most significant part at the end.

I'm sitting in front of this little (well, big enough to fit ME inside, actually) cocoon type thing, with this wierd little slug-like alien thing inside. it has two big, round, eyes and a cute-ish little mouth. Throughout the dream I have had multiple encounters with the little guy (slug thing) and he and I had become so close as to be considered family, and as I sit there at the end (of the dream) he begins to shrink back inside his little cocoon thing (he's dying for reasons I do not know) and as he gets farther towords the back he says "I love you." in this kinda sad and regretting (sorta high pitched) voice, and that's when I woke up crying. I'm almost crying just thinking about it, but I don't understand this.... please help!

have you ever lost anyone close to you? Like a past partener?

& you've felt like the relationships die-ing, and you can see it's not working out but can't stop it?
