I'm 36 weeks this Friday and have terrible pains in both my b*****s and on my left hand side of my tummy under my breast.

When clothing brushes against my tummy it feels like I'm being cut. Bub is still moving but not as much and when ever he kicks or moves to my left side the pain gets much much worse. I cant bend down to pick anything up because the pain gets like a sharp pain through my tummy. The pain isn't constant kinda comes and goes i guess but i dint think its labour pains because its right under my left breast.

This is my first baby so I'm not sure if its a normal pain or should i call my doctor. I see my midwife next Monday and since I'm forever calling them i was wondering if i should wait to see her or not.

  1. Call your midwife! It's probably nothing, but you don't want to mess around with this, especially this close to your due date. Even if it's not related to the pregnancy, there could be something else going on (infection, etc) which you may need to deal with. Regardless, call your midwife. You'll feel so much better after you do. Good luck & Congrats on the pregnancy!

  2. oh you poor thing! It's probably gonna get worse before it gets better...

I wore as little as possible for the last few weeks because my whole body was incredibly sensitive, although I did use a body support bandage which helped a lot.

Those kicks are really starting to hit places you'd rather they didn't, mainly because he's got nowhere else to go - he's probably head down and starting to engage, and doesn't have much room in there now.

I felt the same - my son was kinda stretched out and I reckon he used to hang on to my pelvis to give him more leverage to kick my ribs!

The sharp pains are most likely your ligaments getting a workout - labour is more of a wave of pain that builds to a crescendo then drops again.

Try and rest as much as you can, lie down and put your feet up - you haven't got long to go now, so take it easy and make sure you get pampered as much as possible.

    All the best! xx
