A machine has a mechanical advantage of 1.What does that tell you about the input and output forces?Give example of a machine with a mechanical advantage of 1.

  1. Hello,

    It means that the input and output forces are equal.  An example would be a level (seesaw)  where the point of pressure and the load to be lifted are the same distance from the fulcrum.   For each pound of force down on one side,  there will be an equal lifting force on the other side.

    Another example is a simple pully with only one wheel.   Again,  for each pound of force being exerted on the rope on one end,  there is one pound of force exerted on the weight on the other end.
