  1. ya they are poisonous, unfortunatley

  2. how big is it, if it is small i would go to the hospital right now !!

  3. Watch it closely - some scorpions are very poisonous, others aren't. So - if there's just a little swelling, no redness, she should be okay. If there's anything that looks like it's spreading, call 911 pronto.

  4. you've answered your own question--scorpion stings are dangerous almost immediately if they're gonna be--so all is well

  5. you should rather call either 911, your local physician or some hotline listed in your phonebook rather than positing on here. This may be a severe situation and needs immediate answers from a professional who can guide you on what to do and where to go in your area.

  6. Was she bitten or stung? If it was a sting, she would be dead by now. If it was a bite, she's fine. They don't create any venom in their mouth, just their stinger. I would call a doctor though just in case. They are professionals so they would know best.

  7. usually if there big there not poisonous but if there small they are

  8. All scorpions are venomous, not poisonous so you should defenately get it checked out

  9. All are poisonous ,how large was it? The smaller the more poison yes see med. now not likely serious though!

  10. its called 9-1-1

  11. i'd call the ambulance!!!

  12. it just depends on the size of the scorpion if it is small you should what for a sintome but if i was big with big hands than you be chillin..

  13. Those things are poisonous. I would suggest medical help NOW!!!

In a chat room that go to, a gal lives out west and those things are nothing to ignore.

  14. This is like asking if a bee sting is dangerous.

It depends on the individual.  Since you have some 13 answers here already, I'd say it's been a while since this happened and I arrived to toss in an opinion.

So, I have no clue if mine will be helpful at this time, but keep it in mind for the future.

My sister lives in Az. (as does another brother, and my Mom).  Sis's kids were forever getting stung and dashed off to the hosp. till I informed the brother-in-law during my last visit that the evil nasties glow under a black light.  They and the neighbors launched a campaign with the lights and have since rid the neighborhood of the invasive things one at time, with tongs, at night (they announced the idea at church, and it went over swimmingly).

My recommendation, since she seems to be reacting mildly, is the same as I would give for a bee sting.  Wet some oatmeal (yeah, that's right, like you'd have for breakfast), dab it onto the wound (it's fabulous for drawing anything in the skin out), and cover it with a band-aid (moisten/wet the pad first).  Change every 1-2 hr. as the pad and oatmeal dries for 1-2 changes.  Refresh the oatmeal and wet band-aid.

It will draw out the toxin (ask your physician).  This is great for bee stings, spider bites, etc.  The sooner you get wet oatmeal on it - the faster relief will come, and healing will start.

Watch for swelling or increased redness/pain.  If anything seems in doubt - seek medical help.  It should be no worse than a bee sting (for non-allergics), or get help.

PS - My sister no longer dashes the kids to the ER.  She hates oatmeal, but keeps it on hand these days just for the stings.

I hope it's not serious, and I hope this has been of help.

(I learned this from the Smithonian in DC, back when I kept spiders.)

***ADD oh, and PS - Aveno (powdered oatmeal) is just fabulous in a bath for poison Ivy and Oak suffers.  My brother's allergic.  The Smithsonian didn't help with that one... large medical bills and dr's did.  lol

  15. This website will give you all the information you need:

    Scorpion

In any case, take her to a hospital. Some effects will only show as time progresses.

    Hope that helped!

  16. let me get this straight just so i'm sure.  your wife got stung by a scorpion you aren't 100% sure what kind of scorpion so you don't know if it is super dangerous or not and instead of calling the hospital to ask someone there if it is anything to worry about you decide to get on yahoo answers and ask a bunch of computer nerds that are into snakes...right.

  17. The bite of a scorpion is not toxic, only the stinger is. Do not worry, your wife will be fine in a few days.

  18. Scorpion stings aren't normally deadly except to babies or old people.  Regardless, I would still get it checked out.

  19. I just read that Bark Scorpions are very poisonous and can be fatal, I would take your wife to the hospital just in case right away.

    yeah I would call 9-1-1

Or contact poison control, just read a little more information, they are painful, but NOT DEADLY

  20. it might be poisonus but you still should go see a docter and put ice on the swelling.

  21. Try these sites.

  22. How big was it?  The smaller the scorpion, the more dangerous it is.

Florida Bark Scorpions are not typically considered deadly.  Was your wife BIT or STUNG?  There's a big difference, a bite or pinch is usually harmless, only the stinger carries venom.

I suggest you try calling or visiting an ER and see what they say, just to be safe, but it doesn't sound like she's in any danger.

  23. Some scorpions are poisonous and some are not. She would have had an immediate reaction to the sting. If you are worried go to the ER.
