Wigan Athletic Chairman Dave Whelan confirms Charles N’Zogbia must be sold – EPL News
Wigan Athletic Chairman, Dave Whelan, has revealed that the Latics must sell their most prized asset, Charles N’Zogbia, despite Roberto Martinez’s willingness to keep the French International at the DW Stadium.
N’Zogbia, who joined Wigan Athletic from Newcastle United, was a revelation at DW Stadium last season. The 25-year-old single-handily helped the Latics avoid relegation from Barclays Premier League in the last campaign. The French international scored a
vital brace against West Ham United to mark a historic comeback win, which proved http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitalô-c40903 in Wigan’s survival campaign.
N’Zogbia has attracted interest from a number of clubs including the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Sunderland but Roberto Martinez is determined to keep hold of the winger. However, Dave Whelan has a different opinion on N’Zogbia’s transfer situation.
The 25-year-old has a year left on his current contract at the DW Stadium and Wigan’s chairman has confessed that his club must sell N’Zogbia in order to prevent the French international from leaving the club on a Bosman transfer next season.
He said, “We have to sell Charles N'Zogbia because he's on the last year of his contract.”
Whelan believes that it is unfair to N’Zogbia to keep hold of him and reckons that the French international has all the attributes to play in one of the big clubs of Europe.
“We can't keep him if a big club comes for him and he does deserve a big club because he's that kind of quality player,” added Whelan.

The Latics chairman also expressed his desire to keep N’Zogbia at DW Stadium but he is adamant that due to club’s financial difficulties, N’Zogbia will be sold this summer.
“We would http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Love-c22466 to keep him [N’Zogbia] and pay him what he wants to stay with us but it's a very difficult situation. He's such a great player and we are such a small club sometimes we don't go together.” The Wigan boss concluded.
Charles N’Zogbia was Wigan Athletic’s top goal scorer last season, scoring 9 goals in 34 appearances.
