Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan wants £10 million for Charles N’Zogbia – EPL News
Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has placed a £10million price tag on the want-away winger, Charles N’Zogbia, despite the French International being in his last year of the contract.
N’Zogbia has attracted interest from a number of English Premier League clubs after playing a huge role in Wigan Athletic’s Premier League survival bid last season.
Aston Villa have reportedly been leading the chase for N’Zogbia’s signature. The French international is seen as a perfect replacement of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
However, Whelan has made it clear that the Latics will not sell their most prized asset for less than £10 million.
When asked about club’s valuation for N’Zogbia, Dave Whelan confirmed, “It's £10 million or there is no deal.”
Whelan also revealed that Aston Villa made a £9 million offer for N’Zogbia but the official offer was rejected because the Latics are looking for the right offer. He also revealed that the club want N’Zogbia to stay at the DW Stadium.
“They offered us £9m and we refused it; firstly because we would like to keep http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Charles-c8808, and secondly because if he is to go, then we have to get the right price for him,” Wigan chairman.
Dave Whelan has claimed that Wigan Athletic owe N’Zogbia a huge favour for his extraordinary contribution in the last few Premier League matches of the recently concluded 2010/11 season.
“We owe him a lot, not least for his goal against West Ham that helped us stay up,” the Latics chairman conceded.
Moreover, Whelan has also confirmed that the Latics will sell Charles N’Zogbia if a right offer comes in for the winger.
“If the right offer comes in, we would consider it, if it was in his best interests - but it has to be the right offer,” Whelan concluded.
Charles N’Zogbia joined Wigan Athletic from Newcastle United and has become an important player at DW Stadium in the past two and a half seasons. The French International has already played 90 matches for the Latics.
