Wigan Warriors coach Michael Maguire announces 19-man squad to face Bradford Bulls
Head coach of Wigan Warriors, Michael Maguire has disclosed his 19-man squad for tonight’s encounter against the Bradford Bulls, at the DW Stadium.
His 19-man squad includes; Sam Tomkins, George Carmont, Darrell Goulding, Pat Richards, Thomas Leuluai, Paul Deacon, Michael McIlorum, Joel Tomkins, Harrison Hansen, Sean O'Loughlin, Jeff Lima, Ryan Hoffman, Paul Prescott, Eamon O'Carroll, Stefan Marsh,
Liam Farrell, Josh Charnley, Gareth Hock, Jack Hughes.
The highlight of tonight’s pick was the inclusion of Paul Deacon and Jeff Lima, who had missed out on the win against the Salford Reds.
With the return of these two players, there are several, who are made to rest until the final shown down of the Carnegie Challenge Cup against Leeds Rhinos on August 27.
Amongst the rested players are Andy Coley, Brett Finch and Lee Mossop, who will sit out the clash against the Bradfords.
Another important inclusion in Wigan’s squad is Eamon O'Carroll, who is making his comeback after fifteen months’ absence. He was ousted from the rugby scene on account of his career threatening injury of sternum. He had only appeared for his team twice
in 2010 after which he remained out of the rugby scenario for over a year.
While speaking about O’Carroll, the head coach appreciated the determination and hard work which was put in by the injured prop to carve his way back into the Wigans.
O’ Carroll had worked his way back all because of his own will power. His comeback was delayed because the qualified surgeon for his precarious surgical procedure could not be found immediately.
His return had nonetheless pleased the entire outfit, “Everyone at the Club is delighted to see Eamon back, he has had an extremely tough last 14 months with his injury but his never say die attitude to training and rehabilitation has been a shining example.”
With the announcement of his 19-man squad for tonight, Maguire has warned his players to remain focussed, as they are leading the League hierarchy currently. The Warrington Wolves are closely following them, who are just a point away from the premier spot
within the league table. A minor slip at this moment will cost Wigans heavily in terms of losing their top spot, which they do not wish to jeopardise at any cost.
