Wigan Warriors coach Michael Maguire focused on game against Bradford Bulls
Michael Maguire, coach of Wigan Warriors said today that he will make sure that his players focus on tonight’s clash of Super league against the Bradford Bulls at the DW Stadium, sidelining their worries about the Carnegie Challenge Cup final on August 27.
The Warrington Wolves will meet Catalan Dragons tomorrow for their Super League fixture lined up.
Warriors have been asked by their head coach to keep themselves fully focused as the Warrington is just a point behind them in League tables with still three more fixtures lined up.
If a minor slip from Wigan’s end is made, there is a possibility that Warrington take up the premier position within the league hierarchy as the gap between the top two spots is very narrow.
Maguire acknowledged the strong position of Wigans so far as they will tread into tonight’s encounter, having bagged already eleven consecutive victories to lead the league standings. He also admitted that his squad has really worked really hard and will
continue to do so to sustain their lead.
However, Wigans will have to be extra careful of their future games because there is no room at all for them to compensate for any slips that are made from his side, as the Wolves are just on their back to snatch away the top position from them with three
more fixtures, the equation can be altered entirely.
While speaking about the self-alignment of squad, despite the final showdown of the Challenge Cup lined up shortly, Maguire stated, “We’re aware we’ve got a big game in a week’s time down at Wembley but Friday is very important as well. We’re in a good
position at the top of the Super League and we want to stay there. It’s something we’re working hard on.”
Wigans will meet tonight the Bradford which is just a week away from Wigan’s big game in Wembley.
While speaking about their opponents for tonight’s clash, Mick Potter who coaches Bradford added, “Wigan are top of the table for a reason – because they have been the most consistent side this season.”
