Wigan Warriors’ lock Chris Tuson out for six weeks due to ligament injury – Rugby League news
Greater Manchester based English rugby league club, Wigan Warriors RLFC’s, 2011 Rugby League season suffered a major blow as they will be without the services of their talented lock, Chris Tuson, for upcoming matches. The 19 times Rugby League champions
and the 17 times Challenge Cup champions will miss Tuson in their upcoming Challenge Cup quarter-final against the Warrington Wolves due to a ligament injury.
Wigan Warriors head coach, Michael Maguire, has confirmed the injury to their talented second row forward Tuson in an interview on Wednesday, July 20.
Maguire has confirmed his disappointment on losing Tuson, who was currently in great form. He confirmed that Tuson has damaged a medial ligament. He said, “He unfortunately got a medial strain so probably (he'll miss) about five to six weeks.”
The Lancashire born Tuson started his rugby career with his hometown club of Leyland Warriors and Bamber Bridge RLFC. He made his professional rugby league senior club debut for Wigan Warriors in 2008. He signed a two-year contract to mark the start of his
professional rugby career.
Tuson played his debut game against the Leeds Rhinos on July 4, 2008. He so far has made 29 appearances for Warriors and scored eight points, coming from the two tries, which he scored against the Castleford Tigers and Warrington Wolves during the 2010
season.
At the end of the season last year, Tuson was handed over a new two-year contract, with an option of further extension in the contract by a year through mutual agreement. The 23-year-old Tuson has played 10 games in this year’s campaign so far for the Warriors.
Maguire praised Tuson’s on field performance in the season so far and termed his exclusion from the side as “unfortunate” for the club and the team.
The injury has ruled Tuson out from the game for next four to six weeks. This would mean that Tuson will not be able to participate in the Warriors upcoming Super League encounters against the Hull Kingston Rovers, Salford and Bradford Bulls.
