Wigan versus Arsenal - Preview
Wigan and Arsenal are clashing tonight at DW Stadium, home ground for Wigan. Both the teams are at opposite corresponding positions, as Wigan is third from the down and Arsenal is third from the top. One team will be hoping to avoid the relegation zone;
the other will be striving to get on the top of the table. Arsenal will be confident to win against the minnows as they thrashed the champions of the last season, Chelsea at the Emirates.
Arsenal played with a lot of shuffling in their team, from what they had lined up previously. There was a gamble that Arsene Wenger took and that paid off. Wenger will be hoping to play the same formation and try to secure three crucial points. The season
is getting into a stage where losing the points against low profile teams gets hard to recover later. The fifth yellow card booking for the captain Cesc Fabregas will keep him away from the game. The Spaniard is suffering a suspension after getting a yellow
card against Chelsea. Arsenal has played most of the season without the injury prone leader and his substitutes have done well in his absence.
Theo Walcott is geared up to repeat what he did against Chelsea. He was quick, he scored and assisted a goal that was easily put in by Cesc Fabregas.  About the importance of the match, the English midfielder said,
"We can't dwell on this result. We could be disappointed if we win against Chelsea and then lose at Wigan."
Walcott was sensational in the match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809, to limit the defender at the back and not run forward for deadly crosses. In the last season, Arsenal lost the match against Wigan at the DW stadium, earlier this
year in April. Arsene Wenger gave his views and stated,
"Let's see if we can turn up with a fantastic performance now on Wednesday night."
Arsenal had a fairly comfortable ride in the past against Wigan, as the gunners have won eight of their last 10 league clashes against Wigan.
Trivial stats
Wigan has won only three matches and lost 35 in 43 premier league matches against the usual top fours (Arsenal, Chelsea, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Manchester United)
Wigan has won only two games at home out of their nine games. However, their last matches at home have produced two wins and three drawn matches. Arsenal is vulnerable on set pieces as they have conceded 45 per cent of their goals on free kicks, corners
and penalties. Arsenal is performing well in their away home games as they have secured 12 points in their last five matches. Morouane Chamakh has scored three goals in their last four away matches.
Injury news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Almunia-c23386 suffered an elbow injury against West Brom and is out of the action since then. The
latest gunner to get injured was Kieren Gibbs.
Player to watch
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873: The English international is famous for his pace and hard work on the field. He was immaculate against Chelsea and even scored a goal. He kept on teasing the defence line and he has all the abilities to score a goal. Wigan
will try to stop the winger and that might leave the space for other attackers for Arsenal to penetrate.
