Wigan’s Hugo Rodallega would leave the DW stadium in search for glory – EPL news
Wigan Athletic striker, Hugo Rodallega, has refused to commit his future to the Latics. The Columbian international has claimed that if a high-profile club comes knocking for his signature, he will have no problems in leaving the DW stadium.
Rodallega is one of the brightest stars at Wigan, and his contributions were invaluable towards keeping the Latics in the Barclays Premier League in the season ended. The Columbian international helped his side stay out of the relegation zone on the final
day of the recently concluded campaign, ensuring the club’s continued presence in the top flight.
However, merely a place in the biggest league in the world is not enough for Hugo Rodallega. The Columbian international is not content with fighting for survival season after season. He has admitted that he is hungry for trophies, and he knows that he will
not be getting his wish anytime soon if he remains at Wigan.
Rodallega claims that while he is happy with life at Wigan Athletic, he would not think twice about leaving the club if one of the big boys of Europe offer him a contract.
Speaking on the matter, the Columbian international said, “I'm happy at Wigan because in the two-and-a-half years they have treated me well, I've earned a place and I am already one of the major players in the team. It makes me feel at home, but if the opportunity
arises to go to another larger team, who give me the chance to fight for a title, I could and would accept it gladly."
No solid offers have yet materialized for the striker’s services though. There was speculation that Sevilla were ready to make a bid for Rodallega, though, the Spanish club denies such reports.
A statement from the club read, “Formally we have not presented an offer to Wigan for the Colombian http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Rodallega-c16414, we have certainly followed him like with many other footballers.”
Wigan Athletic manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468, recently committed his immediate future to the club, and he will hoping to retain the services of Hugo Rodallega as the club prepares for the 2011/12 season of the Barclays Premier League.
