Wigan’s new coach Shaun Wane says he wants things done his way - Rugby

While talking to reporters on Wednesday, October 12, Shaun Wane, who recently assumed responsibility as Wigan Warriors’ new coach, shared that he will be coaching his own way.
Wane's succession to Michael Maguire’s old position with a two-year-deal was confirmed by Warriors’ Chairman, Ian Lenagan, yesterday. The deal has the flexibility of extending the contract to a third year.
Shane spent a successful stint of two years under Maguire’s brilliant coaching and had always been the top priority for Maguire’s replacement for the hot seat.
When asked about the new coach’s future plans, he filled in that he has been associated with Wigans for around 40 years of his life and he still plans to stick around for much longer.
Wane acknowledged that he is very excited about setting up his own camp at Wigans and stated, "It's a great opportunity for me. Assistant coach is probably not what I'm good at. I like being in control and I'm looking forward to this chance. I'm my own man.
Madge (Maguire) has introduced a certain structure which I'm going to carry on but I feel I can improve things. That's my job, There are games we've lost this year that we shouldn't have lost and games we were winning comfortably at half-time and eased off
a bit. I want to get rid of that culture.”
While referring to the Super League qualifying semi-final 18-26 defeat against St. Helens, which ousted the Warriors from the title race, the coach acknowledged that there were crucial titles which were missed out by the franchise. This is evidence for improvement,
which means that a lot of work still needs to be done.
Wane also admitted that he has the ability to turn his three-year term at the club into six more, because he has been witnessing the way the club has grown. He mentioned that he has been watching the club, since he was only six which naturally progressed
into his on-field role, which is further backed by a solid experience of twelve years.
