Wiguagainduck is no sitting duck in A7 race at Sheffield
Wiguagainduck (6-1) was no sitting duck in A7 race that opened another action-packed race meeting at Sheffield Greyhound Stadium. After a bounding start from trap six, he went on to lead three-quarters
en route to a 30.68 second finish that gave him the win over 500m. Behind him by 2¼ lengths was Rhincrew Fergie (5-2), who crowded first, but ran on to take second place in 30.86.
Pennys Bruce, the 9-4 favourite in this race, held an early pace, and soon led to the three-quarter mark. However, he ended up losing 1½ lengths in his bid for a win, and he placed third with a time of
30.98. The fourth-place finisher was Graces Baby, the 11-4 long shot. An early pace from trap one was not enough for her, as she fell from grace quickly and completed the race in 31.10, missing the top three by 1½ lengths.
Marinas Vieri (7-2) crowded the run up and third, and placed fifth by a shoulder, equalling Graces Baby’s time of 31.10. Claiming the bottom spot was Vatpack Sammy (7-2), who also crowded the run up and
third. His finishing time of 31.32 was 2¾ lengths out of fifth place.
Following the A7 race was an A6 race that featured a great win from Logandyke Rose. An early pace from trap one allowed her to lead fourth, and she would go on to claim the top spot with a time of 30.54.
Right behind her was 6-4 favourite Self Sufficient, who did not need any help to finish in second place. She moved quickly away from the pack and led to fourth, finishing in 30.64, 1¼ lengths behind the winner.
Edenberry Joe (7-4) had every chance to win this race, but wound up in third place. His time of 30.72 placed him a single length behind Self Sufficient. Missing out on a top-three finish by 2¼ lengths
was Rockchasedicanio (4-1), who placed fourth in 30.90 after moving slowly away from the other racers.
Stepaside Mini, the long shot on 8-1 odds, stepped aside as four dogs passed her. She finished fifth with a time of 31.00 after moving very slowly away, and was 1¼ lengths behind fourth place. Finally,
Dentons Pride (6-1) lay claim on sixth place after crowding at the quarter mark. She would go on to finish a ½ length behind Stepaside Mini in 31.04.
