I just got a Wii and I'm trying to get it to connect to the internet.

I've already found my wireless connection...but it needs a password.

My router is NETGEAR...where do I find the password?

It's supposed to be on the modem but I don't know which one it is...

Please help...

  1. If you don't know what you're doing - don't mess with the router's config.   Ask the person who set it up.

  2. Well, this really depends on whether you have configured your netgear router in anyway. If your wii is asking for a WEP Key (the password) you must have configured your options. If you do not know your WEP Key you must get a new one. To change it to a new one do the following:

    1. using a computer or laptop connected to this nertgear router, type in  "http://192.168.1.1" which is the WAN (Wide Area Network Address). If it ask for username and password, - enter your username (usually "admin" as default) and enter your password (ussualy "admin" as default as well).

Now click on wireless settings and select WEP Key as teh security option. Once you have done this you may manually enter your desired WEP Key or you may generate one with a passphrase. I recommmed manually entering it for now until you understand fully.

    Now apply the settings.

Now go to your wii and enter the WEP Key (password).

  3. http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/routers...

go to that page, and then select which model your Netgear router is (it should say in the back or bottom of your router).

it will then take you to the page telling you how to find out your router's password and other information
