Wii keyboards and wii update?

so, i heard that any key board will work on the wii.....and we bought the wii keyboard and it worked but it didnt work when typing things on the wii internet.......i heard that you hav to update to 3.1 but when i tried to update it said "no update available because you have the latest updates").........how do i update?

Go to the shop channel and click on the channels icon and the internet channel should say "update" or something like that and just do the update and you should be set. other than that i can't think of anything else that could cause the problem and to check the system firmware just go to the "Wii" on the bottom left corner and click Settings and it should say what version you have on the top right corner of the screen
