  1. There is probably about 80 percent more things to do with the internet than without.

-Send messages to your friends through the wii with the help of wii connect 24.

-Get updates from nintendo also with the help of wii connect 24.

-Use channels such as the news channel, the weather channel, and the wii shopping channel.

-Download old games on the Wii Shopping channel from platforms like NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis and more.

-Download Wii-Ware games from the wii shopping channel.

    (I recommend Lost Winds)

-Download free channels for your wii menu like The nintendo channel where you can watch videos about new wii games and download demos for your nintendo DS.

-Send miis to your friends with the help of Wii Connect 24.

-play against your friends in games like Super Smash bros. brawl, mario kart wii, and super mario strikers.

-It is all free too(unless you buy a virtual console game.

-And of coarse much more to come from nintendo!

I try to tell people who get a wii that your experience with the wii will be drastically increased if you hook the internet up to it.

The only thing that you will need is a wireless router. You can buy a cheap on for around 15-20 dollars at an electronics store.

There much much more things to do and it basically makes it so you can never get bored of the wii.

I know this is a lot of information at once so if you have any more questions e-mail me here at foolofatook112@gmail.com

  2. It is absolutley worth it! You can talk to your friends, play against your frineds online, buy older games, and download channels.

To get your Wii connected ot the internet you need:

    A computer

    Internet

    A Wii

There are 3 main ways to connect your Wii to the internet:

Wireless Router. This is the best choice (atleast in my opinion) and I highly recommend it.

LAN Adapter. If you don't have a wireless router, you can get a LAN Adapter. You can get these at the Nintendo online store or at Wal-Mart for like $30.

Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector. I have bought 2 of these and neither of them have worked for me. I highly recommend NOT buying this to connect.

To play against your friends online you need a Wi-Fi compatible game and you need each other's friend code.

    Hope this helps!

  3. yeah, half the fun of playing it comes from online, you need wireless internet and if you dont have that then you need the USB adapter or a Landline adapter which you can only buy directly from nintendo.

  4. It's definitely worth getting online. You can check local weather and news, you can surf online once you get the Internet Channel, you can get Wii Updates, you can add friends who also have the Wii and then message them, you can download games off the Wii Shop Channel, you can play against others on line and the list KEEPS on going on.

If you're running on your wireless internet right now you can go through the Wii settings and easily connect like that, all you would need is for it to find it and the name of the connection with the password. If you're running on wired, just get an extra wire and you can connect it to your Wii and set it up.

  5. Online is absolutely worth it.

  6. Yes, it's worth it since it's free.

If you have a Wi-Fi network at home, then you don't need any extra supplies.

If you don't have a Wi-Fi connection, then you can either get a wireless router (which I think is the easiest solution), a USB Wi-Fi adapter, or the LAN adapter.

  7. Since it doesn't cost anything to use the online features (unless you buy something), it's worth it if you already have the components.

    You basically need:

    a broadband internet connect (cable/DSL)

    a router (wireless preferred)

If you don't have a wireless router, you'll need to get an ethernet-USB adapter so you can plug in an ethernet cable into the back of the Wii.

  8. You dont need any additional supplies or anything to play the Wii online. Well, that is as long as you have a wireless internet hookup. If you're gonna play it with a wired connection, you have to buy the adapter. Otherwise, you're good to go.

  9. If you have a Wii, you might as well hook it up online. The main reason: it's free. To hook it up all you need is one of the following, depending on your internet setup:

    - A Nintendo Wi-fi USB Adapter ( I think they stopped selling these)

    - A wireless router

    -*A Nintendo LAN Adapter

If you have one of these, go into your Wii preferences (the button in the bottom left of the screen) and scroll right until you see "Internet". Specify your connection and follow the on-screen instructions.

*In order to play online, you must also have a Wi-fi compatible Wii game.

  10. Yes, it's worth it a whole lot. You can play against others from around the world and buy stuff from the Wii Shop Channel with Wii Points (sold separately).

Here is how to get connected:

First of all, check your internet connection. If you have a wireless router, we are half way there already. If you have a wired conenction with Ethernet, it's also quite easy.

    - Wireless Router -

    1) Turn on your Wii and then go down to "Wii Settings".

    2) Click on "System Information".

    3) You should see three options and an arrow pointing right. Click on the arrow so you will be on the second page.

    4) Click on "Internet".

    5) Click on "Wireless Connection".

    6) Click on "Test Connection".

The Wii should pick up the signal of your wireless router and give you an internet connection for your Wii. Now you can go onto Wi-Fi and browse the internet channel.

    - Ethernet -

    1) Turn on your Wii and then go down to "Wii Settings".

    2) Click on "System Information".

    3) You should see three options and an arrow pointing right. Click on the arrow so you will be on the second page.

    4) Click on "Internet".

    5) Click on "Wired Connection".

    6) This step has two options:

    * Enter your Ethernet's properties and information and then go up to the top and click on "Test Connection".

    * Plug in your Wii LAN Adaptor to one of the free Ethernet connections in the back of the Ethernet system and then go up to the top and click on "Test Connection".

The Wii should pick up the signal of your Ethernet connection and give you an internet connection for your Wii. Now you can go onto Wi-Fi and browse the internet channel.

    - Nintendo Wi-Fi Connector -

    1) Turn on your computer and then insert the installation disc for the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and then plug in the connector in a spare USB port in your computer and install the software

(Will only install on Windows XP unless you have the Vista Update)

    2) Turn on your Wii and then go down to "Wii Settings".

    3) Click on "System Information".

    4) You should see three options and an arrow pointing right. Click on the arrow so you will be on the second page.

    5) Click on "Internet".

    6) Click on "Nintendo USB Connector"

    7) Click on "Test Connection".

The Wii should pick up the signal of your Nintendo Wi-Fi Connector and give you an internet connection for your Wii. Now you can go onto Wi-Fi and browse the internet channel.
