Wijaya Andri clears qualifying round hurdles at Indonesia International 2013 – Badminton news
Indonesia’s Wijaya Andri maintained his supremacy in the arena and cleared Men’s Singles qualifying round after defeating Thailand’s Nanthakarn Yordphaisong at the Prim-A Indonesia International Challenge 2013 on Tuesday, July 2, in Surabaya.
The in-form Wijaya, who remained aggressive in all of his matches in qualifying round, remained consistent in playing with precision and managed to overpower his Thai challenger in 30 minutes.
Indonesian shuttler had to work hard throughout the contest and remained successful in defeating his opponent in straight game with a close 21-19 and 21-19 score on the board.
On the other hand, Nanthakarn also showed his brilliance making it really hard for his local challenger to dominate the pace. However, he failed to play positively in the concluding parts of both sets and lost the match with a respectable total.
It was one of the best matches in the Men’s Singles qualifying round as both players displayed their best skills and remained successful in progressing with equal pace.
Wijaya employed his powerful smashed and well angles semi-smashes to disturb the rhythm of his opponent but failed to manage a considerable lead as Nanthakarn was quick in taking the shots timely.
With their aggressive approach, both shuttlers kept the crowd intact and remained close on the board until the opening half ended up.
In the concluding part of first game, the both contestants resumed their fight in the similar manner and their played with impressive passion. In the ending points, Wijaya changed his tactics and started to play superb net shots followed by powerful smashes
and managed to win the game with a close score of 21-19.
The second game was almost identical when both participants again locked their horns in an aggressive manner. No one was willing to slow down the pace of rallies and they remained toe-to-toe until the one-minute break.
After the interval, both shuttlers tried to dominate the pace but none of them could set up a clear gap. They reached in ending points while staying close on the board.
However, Wijaya was again on the driving seat at this crucial stage and he scored the ending points to wrap up the second game with a close total of 21-19.
