Yes, it's not a game, although people call it one.  It is believed to a tool to communicate with spirits, demons and the dead and is used by people who practice the occult.  

In a typical case when people use them, it's nothing but silliness and a trick to be played on one or more of the other people by a member of the group.  

However, anything to do with the spirit world to me is way too dangerous and scary for me to have anything to do with.

It's Ouija.  It's a form of divination.  Not a game, and not to be used frivolously.  

The belief is that each Ouija board has a spirit attached to it who answers your questions.  

When you think about it, that's really uncool.  If that's the way it works, doesn't that sound a lot like a form of slavery to you?  Think about it.  

The use of a Ouija board under that condition would be rather unethical, don't you think?
