I get this idea from the movie "Chain Reaction" starring Keanu Reeves, Morgan Freeman, Rachel Weisz.

  1. depends. if we constantly use bio masses (not bio- diesel) like ethonol that require us to use continue our food supply then yes. but biodisel, methane, and other biomasses like this and hydroelectric power, hydrogen and wind will actually benifit our economy with cheaper fuel and energy costs, jobs, and more people will buy cost- efficent energy co. stocks and lastly, because we won't need to use so much money to clean the enviorment. so more pro's than con's for it.

  2. it will if renewable energy sources cant supply enough energy at comparable cost.

all economic systems either collapse or are gradually replaced by another type of system. the trick is to be born into one that lasts your lifetime or  gradually evolves into the next.

don't worry about the oil company's, they will just invest in whatever new technology is most profitable. (who do you buy your gasohol from?) they didn't get to be big by selling something no one wanted or needed.

it might be fun to burn your expensive car or tear down a smoke spewing power plant but don't do it unless you want to walk everywhere & burn candles at night or go to bed at sundown like your great grandparents.

  3. Then keep it as a "movie idea".

It is estimated that solving global warming will for example (through energy efficiency and renewable energies) cost 5% of the world GDP while it will increase to 300% its present amount.

In turn, it is a neglectable cost compared to the benefits.

  4. We may never know until we transition to largely renewable energy.  What many people now agree upon is that we are certain to run out of fossil fuels, or come to a dangerously low supply of these resources within the next 100-200 years.

If we remain dependent upon these fuels for our primary sources of power, we'll probably head towards economic self-destruction between now and when we deplete our fossil fuel resources.

  5. NO if anything it will stimulate the other forms of industry that will get on the band wagon to produce renewable energy product.Wind turbines ,solar panels can all be built anywhere not in the oil rich countries that have us buy the short and curlies.I agree with PANTAGRU

  6. Why aren't you concerned that the use of fossil fuels will cause the Earth's ecosystem to collapse? I got this idea from living on a tiny little wet rock spinning through space.

  7. there are a few people making lots of money from non-renewable energies and they aren't recirculating it.  people will always find ways to make money.  but with renewable energy, we'll all have more money to spend since a lot of renewable energies are cheeper to the consumer - some are free (compressed air, sunshine).

even if we had to choose....

economy..... or life on earth.......?  hmmmmm.

  8. No, renewable energy will keep the economy going. It's just a question of whether we have enough oil and time left to create a whole new world running on renewables before the petrol pumps are empty and the lights go out.

  9. The transition is just a process and it will take time to avoid completely devistating the economy.  We all need to continue demanding greener energy sources and the people in charge of this matter will realize that they are fighting a land war in china, and give in...
