Wilco Kelderman will stay with Team Rabobank until 2014
Wilco Kelderman has decided to extend his stay with Team Rabobank for two more years after marking an impressive debut appearance with the side.
The 21-year-old started riding with the Amateur squad, Rabobank Continental Team in 2010 and only took two years before he was called in for the World Tour squad.
His World Tour debut was during the Tour of California as he managed to secure an impressive seventh overall position after the final general classifications at the race.
The cyclist rode brilliantly throughout the American race and was also awarded with the orange, young rider classifications jersey for putting up a splendid show.
Wilco also managed to secure the first overall spot at the Criterium du Dauphine, young rider classifications and finished the race with an eighth overall spot.
Team Rabobank technical Director Erik Breukink briefed that having Kelderman on his side is an opportunity he cannot afford to miss.
“Wilco is a talent that we are keen to help advance in his development," he concluded.
"He's already shown some nice results on the road, but he's still at the beginning of his career. We are happy that he has chosen to extend his stay with us".
"Last year I moved up from the continental team to the pro team. The first half of the year was all about settling in, but I've been well taken care of and now feel super comfortable”.
“The Rabobank Cycling Team is the biggest team in the Netherlands - I'm very happy to be riding for them".
Team Rabobank is having a dry season and currently holds the 14th overall position with 361 UCI points to its credit after the World Tour Team’s rankings.
Bauke Mollema (134), Luis Leon Sanchez (63), Robert Gesink (62), Matti Breschel (60) and Lars Boom (42) made the maximum contributions to help the team with its current position.
Team Sky leads the classifications with 1328 points while Team Liquigas-Cannondale (988 points), Team Katusha (761 points), Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step (677 points) and Team BMC occupied the next four spots in the respective order.
Wilco is known for his tremendous climbing skills and can be a significant inclusion in the Dutch squad for the coming season.
