My sister found about 5 baby birds in at the bottom of our chimney and they were stuck or something so she took them out. And what can we do for them now? She has been feeding them cat food and keeping them in our shed. I don't want them to die so tell me what we could do to keep them alive...!

  1. These birds apparently got  caught when the wind blew the wrong way. I would bet teh parent parenty birds  are looking for them.If they haqve feathers they are fledglings and should be put outside --perhaps near a thickl bush. The parents will hear them calling and come findf them. That is your best bet to keep ihem alive ---besides calling a wildlife center, vet or aviary/

  2. You need to replace them into their nest which is in the top of your chimney...for the parents to find and continue to feed them.  You can also try putting them in a basket with handle and "make" a nest for them inside it and tie the basket up as close as possible to the original nest location if you are not able to access your roof.    If the parents can hear their cries..they will be able to find them. You can watch from afar to see if the parents have found them..watch continually or you may miss their visits.  If after about 2 hours or so you see no adults attempting to find the new nest, get the birds to a local wildlife rehab.  It is illegal for you you to care for these birds on your own..they are protected by law. Look for a rehab here if you need one:
