Question:

Wild White Carrots?

Hello, we have something growing by our flower bed that looks like celery leaves/tops. They actually get nearly a couple feet high. We pulled the roots out only to find that it looks like an off white color carrot. And they have a strong carrot smell as well.

They also grow in other parts of the yard. And I noticed that even my daughter has them pop up. And she lives in another town.

Does any one know if these are really wild carrots? Are they eatable? And if so what is there nutrition value? We live in growing zone 5. Please reply. Thanks.

  1. look at the website below.....I had yellow carrots on a cruise ship just recently, so i didn't know they existed....so I looked them up....

    they are cool!!!!!

  2. Whoa.  Maybe you have albino carrots; which believe it or not, vegetables may be albino.

If rabbits eat them, then that probably means they are safe.

Or they could be something totally foreign.

  3. Maybe salsify..........but I'd been 101% sure before I tasted it.  Google for a picture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salsify

You haven't mentioned flowers.  If an umbel like carrot flower, I'd let it be.  Too many deadly plants with the umbel flower.  Actually, I'd pull it.
