Wild card Nigina Abduraimova loses to fifth seeded Magdalena Rybarikova in 1st round – Tashkent Open 2011
The main draw of the Tashkent Open 2011 saw the likes of fifth seeded Magdalena Rybarikova collide against wild card entrant Nigina Abduraimova. On hard courts of the Olympic School Tennis Courts, the two took up the gauntlet and
standing victorious after 2 hours and 50 minutes was Slovak Rybarikova by bouncing back from a set down to win 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-3.
The two had never clashed against each other in their professional careers before and were unfamiliar with the style and technique. Subsequently after winning the pitch, Rybarikova opened the set by smashing an ace. The two players
broke each other back to back in the first two games to equalize the score at 1-1. In the following eight games the players kept winning on their serves to balance the score at 5-5. In the eleventh game fifth seeded Rybarikova held her serve again and was
looking for an opportunity to break her opponent in the twelfth game to bag the set. Unfortunately her wish didn’t come true and instead, Abduraimova managed to hold her serve to push the set in to a tie breaker.
The players rallied each other long in t he first ten games to even the score at 5-5. By confidently holding her serve in the eleventh game Abduraimova took a mini lead and was looking to break her opponent in the twelfth game,
as she was waiting to pounce at the first opportunity, fifth seeded Rybarikova double faulted and threw the set and her tremendous hard work.
During the second set Rybarikova was first to reel off the first three games in a row while breaking her opponent once. Abduraimova was not ready throw in the towel as yet and jumped right back into the game as she broke Rybarikova
in the fifth game and then went to winning the following three games to equalize the score at 3-3. Both the players again broke each other back-to-back to balance the score at 4-4. During the ninth game Rybarikova held her serve to take a mini lead and in
the tenth game as Abduraimova’s forehand goes straight into the net, she double faults and in a reversal of fate Rybarikova wins the second set.
As the two players bagged a set each, keeping hope alive, Rybarikova opened the deceive set and both the players won on their respective serves in the following seven games. Rybarikova had taken a mini lead in the seventh game
by holding her serve and in the eighth game smashed a winner to secure her lead at 5-3. Serving for the match in the ninth game Rybarikova smashed three successive aces and won the set and the match.
Fifth seeded Rybarikova was able to secure a berth in the second round of the Tashkent Open 2011, where she will be facing French qualifier Victoria Larriere.
